A few of you have asked me to share more about Singapore life. I would be happy to! Experiences are better shared, right? Let me state some caveats: this post is going to include a lot of generalizations about Singaporeans and extrapolations about the people of Singapore based on what I learned from my coworkers while working there. The people I have spent time with represent just one part of Continue Reading

Quite Possibly My Slowest 19 Miles Ever.
Well, that was ugly! I'm two weeks behind in my weekly recaps of workouts (I plan to catch up tomorrow) but this was a big week in training for Tokyo with over 60 miles of running. Next week, I will cut back pretty drastically before getting up over 60 again. So I went into today's long run on tired legs with some tough workouts and lots of miles. I only had a short amount of time before the sun came up and once the sun is up, there's no escaping the heat! Guess what? Here's another picture of Marina Bay Sands. You're welcome. When the sun came out, it was Continue Reading
Cheering for the Singapore Marathon & the International Language of Running.
On Sunday morning, I let myself sleep in a bit before heading out for an easy run down the canal to watch the Singapore marathon. The marathon actually started at 5 am (yes, 5 am! That's how hot it is here). The half marathon started at 6:30 and the 10k started at 7:15. I planned my run to the finish line area (Esplanade Park) around the 3 hour mark for the marathon. I missed the winners Continue Reading
