Marathon #23, complete. On Saturday, June 18, 2016, I ran Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, MN. This was my second Grandma's Marathon. Other than Twin Cities, this is the only marathon I have done more than once. I'm going to start with the bad news...I did not achieve my goal at this race; I had hoped to go under 3:40 by enough to be able to register for Boston 2017 with Dustin. But Mother Nature Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Six Weeks Until The Phoenix Marathon!
Six weeks until the Phoenix Marathon. Time is flying by. This was an easier/cutback week compared to the previous week- still 60 miles total, but the workouts were definitely easier. Here's how it all worked out: Monday: Mile repeats at "tempo" pace. 2 mile warm-up, 4 mile repeats at tempo pace (7:40 min/mile), 2 minute rest in between, 1 mile cool-down, 7.75 miles total. Fits Do Race Reviews: The Family Turkey Trot 5k
I won a 5k yesterday. It was very exciting. "I win. I'm a winner." (Tell me you know that movie.) Let me explain...in 2008, my immediate family decided to host their own "5k" race on Thanksgiving. Often after a marathon, I schedule a massage, but I Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Happy Halloween & Two Weeks Until Richmond!
Happy Halloween everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend celebrating. I always love Halloween. As you can see from above, I made my costume this year. Homemade for the win! So I have been thinking about this Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Trucker Hats from Mill City, Deck Removal, and Marathon Training.
Fall is here, but it doesn't feel like it in Minneapolis. We have had above-average temperatures all week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather changes before the Twin Cities Marathon this Sunday! Last week's 70 miles was intense, so I was happy to have a bit less mileage this week. Here's how it all worked out: Monday: 7 miles in the morning with a two run club friends Continue Reading
