I have a special guest post today from my friend Vicki. I coached Vicki this year for Grandma's Marathon. This was her second marathon, with her first being Grandma's Marathon 20 years ago! Enjoy! Grandmas’s Marathon – 20 years later…52 minutes faster! I finished Grandma’s Marathon in June 2019 which was 20 years after finishing my first, and only other marathon, Grandma’s Marathon in 1999. Guest Post: My Experience Running Through Pregnancy
I have a guest post for you today from my friend Paige. I met Paige through social media/the blog/the running community awhile back and then actually met her "IRL" this past year- she's awesome, and a very talented runner! I followed her on Strava throughout her pregnancy and was amazed by how much (and how fast!) she continued to run, so I asked her to share her experience with you guys. I know Continue Reading
Fits Do Race Reviews: Grandma’s Marathon 2017
Last Saturday, I ran my 27th marathon, the 41st running of Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, MN. This was my 3rd time running Grandma’s. I ran it in 2015. It was a downpour that year, but the rain kept us cool. I set a 13 minute PR! In 2016, I ran it again and it was a bust- red flag situation, super hot, not great. I ran a 3:49- a painful 3:49. Why did I run it again? Well, it's still a great Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Grandma’s Race Week!

The taper: that magical place when you sit back and enjoy all this extra free time and relish in all your hard work over the past 18 weeks… You're probably thinking, "Magical? No way. The taper sucks!" Why does the taper suck? You start second guessing all of your Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: 1 Week Until Grandma’s Marathon
This post should really be named "how to deal with IT band syndrome," as I feel like that was the focus of my week! (Actually, that's not a bad idea for a post...stay tuned!) Monday: Rest from running. Barre class after work at Pure Barre. I usually don't go to Pure Barre; it's not that I don't like it, but the Barre Edina is more convenient and I like their classes just a little bit more (they Continue Reading
