I've been sharing my weekly recaps of training for the Antarctica Marathon, but I thought I'd share more information about the trip overall. Of course, it will be totally different when I have a real experience to share with you! But here goes... We are running the Antarctica Marathon through Marathon Tours. All the information about registration can be found HERE. There is another marathon on Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: 6 Weeks Until the Antarctica Marathon
Another wintry week of training for the Antarctica Marathon, while living in Minneapolis! Here's how everything went this past week: Monday: 8 mile run commute into the office. Slippery, snowy, same old story in Minnesota in January. Tuesday: Rest day! I had a work event at a cooking school; it was so much fun! Wednesday: I was awake and in my running clothes, ready to run commute. I Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Training for the Antarctica Marathon
Cheers to running outside! Though my paces were slower than normal, I got outside for all but 10 out of 60 miles of running. Yay! Here's how this week of training for the Antarctica marathon went: Monday: HUGE blizzard in Minnesota, just as forecasted. I think in the city we received over a foot of snow. It was the most snow in a single day in the past 7 years; it was nuts. It started in the Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: 8 weeks Until the Antarctica Marathon
Okay, I know last week's post was "8 Weeks Until the Antarctica Marathon" but I was wrong. This week is actually 8 weeks until the race, 7 weeks until we depart on the trip. Whoops! **And for any potential burglars planning to stop by while we're gone, my sister's family is going to be housesitting for most of the time, so I wouldn't recommend it! Back to the recap of training for the Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: 8 Weeks Until the Antarctica Marathon
Another week of winter running complete...It wasn't my strongest week, but here's the recap: Monday: 6 miles at an 8:58 min/mile pace outside. This was supposed to be my rest day, but it was warm outside (in the 30's!) so I moved my schedule around so I could take advantage. I probably shouldn't have though, as my IT band was SUPER sore and I struggled. I had to stop a lot to stretch and was Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: 9 Weeks Until the Antarctica Marathon
Hello! It's time for my weekly recap of training for the Antarctica Marathon (and life in general.) Here we go: Monday: New Year's Day! Like many of you, I had the day off of work, so I slept in and then headed down to the treadmill to run. 2 mile warm-up, 6x1200m repeats at a 7:25 pace with 1 minute recovery (I walked), 2 mile cool down. 9 miles total at an 8:40 min/mile pace. It was kind Continue Reading
