On Monday, I got in my run in the early morning. I was excited to have my evening open, to enjoy the great weather in a different way than just running. My friend Meggan had invited me to join her at Luminous Yoga’s “Savasana at Sunset” on Lake Calhoun.
This hour-long outdoor class is held at the southwest end of Lake Calhoun, on the flat, grassy area where Washburn Avenue meets the lake.
Check out this website for more information: http://www.luminous-yoga.com/
Every Tuesday night in the summer, a donation-based outdoor class is held at sunset, overlooking the lake.
Last night was a special edition, bonus Monday night class!
Rather than the regular teacher, (Emily Shaffer), she had a new teacher leading the class. It was this teacher’s first time teaching EVER, but she did great.
Maybe it was the 20 mile race on Saturday, or all the dancing at the wedding Saturday night, but my legs were tight. This class was just what I needed. I could have stayed in pigeon pose all night!
I also want to give a shout-out to my friend Meggan’s outdoor yoga class. She teaches Wednesday nights at Lake of the Isles.
Here is her website: http://theyogagarage.com/?tag=minneapolis
Her class was the first outdoor class I ever went to, and in my mind, she started the whole phenomena!
No matter who started it, I LOVE that there are multiple outdoor yoga classes to choose from in the city. These two options are only two of many. Yet the Yoga Garage and Luminous Yoga are the two that I have tried, and I would recommend them both! Pick the one that fits your schedule.
What to bring: Your mat, some water, and some bug spray!
Come check out Meggan at Lake of the Isles this Wednesday at 6:30, or Emily next Tuesday at 6:30 on Calhoun!
Namaste.
