Lululemon, Oiselle, Athleta, Lole…these fashionable fitness apparel companies are a few of my favorites. But there is a new-to-me name that has joined the party- Sweaty Betty!
Have you checked out Sweaty Betty?
I have been receiving their catalog for awhile now but finally decided to order a few items in October. I decided to purchase the Start Line Long Sleeve Run Top, the Ultra Run Jacket and a Fleece Earwarmer.
1. Start Line Long Sleeve Run Top
“Long-length run top with drawcord hem for a personalised fit. Soft and lightweight in quick-drying, sweat-wicking fabric, the audio port guide and thumbholes deliver extra functionality.”
My review:
I LOVE it. It’s long, which is great, but even better, it actually stays in place because of the drawstring. I love the pattern. It will definitely be one of my top light fall tops or a layering piece for the colder months.
2. Ultra Run Jacket
“Bold printed run jacket in shower-resistant fabric, perfect for running outdoors. Featuring sweat wicking side panels, drawcord hood and secure elasticated cuffs for a more comfortable workout. This reflective sweat-wicking layer packs away into its back pocket, with clip straps to transform it into a bumbag. Ideal for training in unpredictable weather.”
My review:
This jacket isn’t very warm. It’s definitely a fall or spring jacket, unless you layer quite a bit underneath. However, the quality and the fit are awesome, and I’m in love with the pattern.
Another awesome perk? It has the added functionality of being able to pack it away into its own back pocket, with clip straps to transform it into a “bumbag.” (In the US, I think we call it a fanny pack.) This jacket is ideal for training in unpredictable weather
3. Fleece Earwarmer
“Crafted in soft, brush back fleece fabric to keep ears warm during outdoor workouts, this quick-drying headband features an ergonomic design and snug fit.”
My review:
Warm, stays in place, cute- gets the job done!
I am really happy with my new Sweaty Betty apparel! The price point is a little high, but I’ll definitely add some items to my holiday wish list.
More information on Sweaty Betty:
Sweaty Betty carries yoga, run, ski, “dance statement,” and swim apparel. They offer free shipping for orders over $100. My order did come from the UK, so it took a little longer to arrive.
Sweaty Betty has two boutiques in the US- one in Greenwich, CT and one in SoHo in NYC. It looks like they are involved in the community similarly to the way that lululemon and Athleta are, with local ambassadors and fitness classes at the stores.
Let me know if you have any Sweaty Betty apparel and what your experience has been!
I like the “shower-resistant fabric” idea… too bad it’s not warmer. Is it wind resistant? The “bum bag” would be helpful I bet.
Yes, and it’s fun to say 🙂 Bumbag.
The jacket is wind-resistant. I think I’ll still wear it on top of warmer layers in the winter.
Cute pieces! I’m not very familiar with Sweaty Betty, so thanks for the info and reviews! What I am really struggling with finding lately is running tights/pants/capris. Do you have any favorites? I have tried a few different brands but am having trouble finding something that really fits and performs.
Katie, for really warm pants, I have a pair from Craft that are AWESOME. Seriously the warmest ever, but not that flattering 🙂 Function over fashion in that case though!
Otherwise, I like the Brooks Infiniti tights. I also have a few pair from Athleta that have held up well. Which ones have you tried?
I have tried a few pair of Under Armor and they didn’t fit well– sort of too big and too small at the same time. Too big in the waist, too small in the thighs and booty. I’m also sort of embarrassed to admit that I bought a pair of workout tights from Maurice’s. Yes, the discount fashion store in every mall ever. That Maurice’s. They have a new workout line and I thought I’d try the pants because they were so cheap. Well, there’s a reason they’re so cheap. And again, the fit is awful! I don’t know why… Read more »
Oh, Katie, I love it! A man bulge, too funny 🙂
I actually had a pair of Under Armour capris that were just as ill-fitting. I spent an entire run pulling them up, even though they were tight everywhere else. Failed Fit for sure!
OK. Good to know that you experienced similar ill-fit with Under Armour. I actually just won today a gift card to Nike, so I’m thinking I may try a pair of Nike running tights. Have you tried that brand?
Despite being in the UK I’ve never actually bought any Sweaty Betty kit, mainly because it’s a bit pricey, but now I’m rather tempted by that top and jacket. Best get them on my Xmas list!
Hi Allison! Yes, it is pricey. They have nice stuff for a holiday treat though!
Are there other UK specific brands that you would recommend?
