Can you believe September is coming to an end? Only 6 more weeks until the New York City Marathon! I’m linking up with Jess Runs ATL- details below if you want to join us!
I am also linking up with Courtney and HoHo Runs/Mississippi Piddlin, who host similar link-ups. Check them out!
Here’s how training went last week:
Monday: 8 morning miles with some 1k repeats in the middle.
An Arms & Abs class at [solidcore] after work. That class is so fantastic, I love it! I was really sore afterwards.
Tuesday: Another 8 morning miles.
Wednesday: Since I was doing Ragnar Northwoods Trail this weekend, my coach had me do my long run this day. I had to take a 1/2 day of PTO from work to fit it in. 18 miles is to much to do before work!
You know you’re a runner when…you use vacation time to do your long run 🙂
10 miles alone, 8 miles with this little lady:
Goodness, it was HUMID. Tilda didn’t enjoy it that much, neither did I.
Thursday: 5 early miles with my friends Lindsey and Ryan.
Friday: Ragnar Trail Northwoods! I will definitely write a post all about this fun filled weekend with 3 out of 4 of my sisters and 4 other friends (8 people total per team) but that race review deserves a post of its own.
I’ll just focus on the runs for the weekly recap!
Friday around 3 pm: 7.6 HOT, HOT miles (the RED loop!) followed by another 8 miles (the green and yellow loops combined) at 11 pm (in the middle of the night on trail in the dark- crazy!)
Saturday: Well, the days kind of blurred together in Ragnar, but I’m pretty sure I only had one run on Saturday, my last “red” loop of 7.6 miles of tough, technical trail but at least in daylight! About 23 miles of trail total.
Tough, but oh, so fun!
Sunday: Rest! MUCH needed. I was quite sore from the trail running, not to mention quite tired 🙂
Dustin and I took advantage of a coinciding rest day and had brunch at Tilia, then I got a pedicure, and then we took Matilda to the Minnehaha dog park, with a stop at SeaSalt afterwards.
One last patio evening! A great Sunday.
Summary: 63 miles of running, 1 Arms & Abs class at [solidcore]
This week was definitely a little odd with Ragnar thrown in there, but overall I felt pretty good and was happy with how things went. New York City is coming up quickly!
On a random closing note, I saw this on Run to the Finish’s blog & thought it was pretty funny:
OK, that quote was darn funny!!
Haha, glad you enjoyed 🙂
Your Ragnar relay sounds so fun!! I’ve read about them, but never had the opportunity to one. Well done on another great week of training 🙂
Thanks Isabel! Same to you 🙂
No I can hardly believe it’s almost October and it still feels like August! Aww you had quite the partner for 8 of your 10 miles. Does she run regular with you on long runs. I’ll take my Mini Aussie with me but I won’t go but about 5 miles with him because it’s so hot! So glad to have you join us in the Weekly Wrap!
My dog Matilda has run up to 13 total, but generally we max out with her around 8-9…She loves it though! I just don’t like to do it as much when its too hot. Fall weather is her FAVORITE (mine too :))
How great that you got to run with 3 of your sisters!
Yes NYC marathon will be here before ya know it! I’m so excited for you. I did the NYC half in the Spring and loved every minute of it!
Awesome to hear, so excited for NYC!
I remember using comp time a few years ago so I could get my long run done and go in late for work! People (non-runners) definitely thought running 18 miles was a strange reason to take time off.
Haha, the crazy things runners do!
The Ragnar relay sounds so cool! That’s something that I wish I can do one day. Congrats on your 60+ miles last week – incredible!
Thanks Kim! Hope you’re feeling good for your race!
Oh, so jealous in so many ways…Ragnar (a Trail Ragnar, none the less!), and NYC coming up! You had a busy week 😉
Trail Ragnar was a blast! I need to write a full review soon!
Wow, nice work getting in a mid week 18 miler! I may have to do that next week as well and am trying to figure out how to fit it in.
Have you run NYC before? I ran it last year for the first time and it’s such a great race!
Nope this is my first NYC! It’s my last of the 6 world majors- super excited!
Truth: You know you’re a runner when…you use vacation time to do your long run HA! Yeah, I’d say 18 miles is too much to do before work! Huge, huge kudos for running that many miles on a technical trail at night. I love trail running but am still getting used to it, so I wouldn’t be able to do that many on a well-lit day!
Thanks Jenn!
Yes, I like trail running too, but I think I’m a road runner at heart 🙂
Wow! That is a lot of miles. I’m so jealous of that Ragnar Trail race with your sisters and friends. I’ve got to do a Ragnar one of these days! I love the way Tilda is looking at you in the Wednesday pic! Thanks for linking with us on the Weekly Wrap!
Thanks for hosting the link-up!
Ragnar Trail was definitely unique. Not sure if I’ll do it again or not, but I am interested now in a road one!
What a fun week! Congrats on the Ragnar 🙂
Your dog is so cute! and that ab class…is that a pilates reformer class?
It’s sort of like a reformer, but they say a bit more ‘intense’- I would say its just more fast paced even though the movements are slow and HARD. I can never make it through a full class without breaks. Great workout though!
Sounds like a fun filled week! Heard about ragnar and they have it here im HI too. Cant wait to read the recap on that one.
Running 8 miles used to be easy and now, i feel like its super long but i managed today…
Great week!!!
Yes, I think there are road and trail Ragnars in Hawaii!
Glad you are back to running- it will all come back quickly, I’m sure!
