I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for the weekend.
Just for fun today I thought I’d share a random list of some of my recent favorites- not running related. Just a hodgepodge of things I am enjoying lately:
1. Newman’s Own Ginger Mints
I love anything ginger. Like the Gin-Gin chewy ginger candy, ginger tea etc. These mints are my favorite way to get a little dose of ginger; they are right up my alley. They settle an upset stomach and taste great. Available here. You’ll always find these in my purse.
2. R+CO Dallas Thickening Shampoo:
This was a recommendation I actually read about on Erin’s blog a few months back and I have been using it ever since. I have pretty thin hair, not a lot of volume. Not only do I think this shampoo actually helps give my hair a little more body, it also leaves it shiny. And it smells AMAZING. Love it.
3. Brazilian Bum Bum Cream:
I know, the name is funny- it’s supposed to tighten and smooth the look of skin, and I’ll be honest that I haven’t noticed a difference there, but I love the coconutty beach smell; it’s not overpowering but it does stay with you. I can smell it on me even a day later. And it’s very moisturizing. If you’re on the fence, I recommend trying a travel size as its pricey, but I keep coming back for more as I just love it. Also available at Sephora.
They say the secret ingredient is guaraná, “a native Amazonian plant whose fruit contains one of the most potent forms of caffeine on the planet. Brazilian Bum Bum Cream is also powered by a Brazilian blend of extraordinarily nourishing cupuaçu butter, antioxidant powerhouse açaí, and super-conditioning coconut oil for irresistible, touch-me skin. The fast-absorbing texture contains just enough mica to add a perfect Brazilian glow, as the formula helps your body look and feel its smoothest and tightest. Pistachio caramel leaves skin delicately fragranced.”
Whatever it is, I love it!
4. Apple Watch/iPhone charging station
I received an apple watch for my 35th birthday from Dustin. I love the watch, but I didn’t have a good place to keep the charger overnight. Lots of wires were clogging up my nightstand. So ‘Santa’ brought me this charging stand for both my watch and my phone. Perfect! I love the simple design and it doesn’t take up a lot of room.
5. Mahabis Slippers
Simple. Functional. Beautiful.
I received a pair of these slippers over a year ago as a gift and they are the gift that keeps on giving! I needed a pair of somewhat protective/supportive slippers after breaking my pinkie toe on a rogue rolled-up rug before Grandma’s Marathon 2015 (remember that? Read about it here) After that, no more walking around the house barefoot for me! Instead, I slip my feet into these super comfy yet functional slippers. They are considered “indoor/outdoor” and I do occasionally keep them on just to take out the trash, but generally I only wear them indoors. I have yellow and black for the sole- you can easily switch them out for a change. The look and feel of these slippers is fantastic; I highly recommend a pair!
BONUS Favorite!
Matilda’s new Vizsla Tea Jacket
I couldn’t write a whole post about favorite things without mentioning Matilda! Vizslas aren’t really cold weather dogs so Matilda definitely needs a winter jacket (or a few.)
I saw this jacket on Instagram awhile ago and loved it. It’s custom designed just for vizslas by a company in Lithuania.
When I ordered it, I had to provide exact measurements for her, which is awesome because vizslas have kind of a unique shape and not everything fits her. She’s super lean, but has a big rib cage.
When her jacket finally arrived, she couldn’t wait to try it on. It looks amazing if I do say so myself (I’m a little biased). She looks so ‘handsome’ right? If you have a vizsla or a similarly shaped breed (German short hairs come to mind) buy this amazing jacket as a present for your furry friend!
Enjoy your weekend everyone- I’ll be back on Sunday for my weekly recap of training for the Boston Marathon!
Wait wait wait, the book spines are not in focus!! You are killing this book lover!
OK, I spy some KonMari action, and running books! Thumbs up!
I know! It’s a little blurry, but most of my current reads are on the kindle on top 🙂
Matilda looks so lovely in her coat!! I love it! She’s so fancy!
Hehe, thanks Katie 🙂
OMG! I saw that vizsla tea jacket awhile ago and fell in love with it! Luma HAS to have one (as soon as she’s full grown)! Is it as amazing in person as it is on insta?! I’ve also been eying those slippers – you recommend?! So glad you love the shampoo! A hair changer, right?! Ordering some bum bum cream! It sounds heavenly.
The Vizsla tea jacket is SO adorable. Tilda looks a little pretentious maybe, but I just love it. And she seems to like it!
Yes, get some Mahabis- I LOVE mine!
Hope you like the bum bum cream 🙂
