Hello from Kalamazoo! LL and I are here to run a half marathon tomorrow. Hopefully our dad will be running too, although he has been having some IT band issues (like father, like daughter I guess!) He isn’t sure if he’s going to do the 13.1 miles but if he does, LL will be sticking with him for the run. I don’t want him to hurt himself further, but I know this is something he really wants to do. Fingers crossed all goes well tomorrow!
LL and I arrived pretty late last night, so we were all happy to sleep in this morning. Eventually we got up and went for a short shakeout run in the neighborhood:
Eventually we made our way to the race expo. It was held at the Kings Stadium (a minor league hockey team?).
Tomorrow’s event includes a full marathon and a 5k, as well as the half marathon that we are registered to run. This is actually the first time that I have done a half marathon that is part of a full marathon event. It will be a nice change to be one of the runners turning around on the course a little early!
The full marathon starts at 8 am from the Borgess Hospital, and the half marathon starts 20 minutes later on a similar course.
Apparently, a decent number of full marathoners “earn their mittens” by running the Kenosha, Wisconsin marathon today and the Kalamazoo marathon tomorrow. Hardcore!
The forecast is looking very favorable for us. In fact, today the sun was shining and the grass was so green! What a pleasant change from Minneapolis!
After a relaxing day catching up with the family, we cooked up some light pasta with zucchinis and tomatoes,
…and then watched a little TV before heading to bed.
Good luck to all the runners tomorrow, wherever you’re running!
